    Lala Longganisa

This is the third of eight grilled cheese sandwiches I prepared for the party I hosted for Foodbuzz 24×24 last August. It’s called Lala Longganisa.  Longganisa or longaniza is a sausage similar to a chorizo. Here in the Philippines, several regions known for producing tasty longanizas flavor them with indigenous spices. For example, those from Lucban, Quezon are known for the prominent garlic flavor. Those from Pampanga are usually salty with a hint of sour. My favorite version would be something called longaniza hamonada/hamonado which has a distinctive sweet taste. Longanizas from the Philippines are sometimes made of pork or beef, and now we even have some made of chicken,…

Of Cookbooks & Momofuku Steamed Pork Buns

Hey friends! It’s been a while since my last post. Thing is, last week was my birthday week and I’m also busy preparing for a huge party this coming Saturday for hubby’s birthday. Yup, March is our birthday month and I’m struggling to find time to cook something for this blog. Anyhow, one of the presents I got from hubby for my birthday is the Momofuku cookbook by David Chang! I’ve always wanted to have one and I was literally close to getting one from Amazon. Perfect timing 🙂 I got my Dorie Greenspan’s Around My French Table last December from my sister and thought a David Chang and Thomas…

    Apple & Dried Cranberries Loaf

Hubby just gave me a new loaf pan and I thought it would be good to test it out. I incidentally have apples at home so I thought I’d make something out of them. I actually have a recipe written in my notebook for an apple and cranberry loaf and I decided to make that one. Unfortunately, that recipe called for fresh cranberries but since I don’t have them at home, I replaced them with dried cranberries instead. The outcome was a moist and delicious apple & dried cranberries loaf and to be honest, I thought it’s just as good as a Christmas fruitcake. Well, sans the rum/liqeur. Anyhow, here’s…

    Cinnamon Rolls! Because I Can.

Have I told you just how much I love The Pioneer Woman? I love her. I simply adore her! And The Pioneer Woman surely knows her breads. She knows what she’s doing. For those of you who don’t know her, will you please go to her website and check her out? If you’re too lazy to do that, will you please take some time to Google her or something? You will be able to find pieces of info about this woman who totally rocks her kitchen! Pronto! Please 🙂 When I saw her Cinnamon Rolls 101 post, the signs became clear. That’s what I’m gonna do next. Who cares if…

Cream Cheese Bruschetta with Blueberry Compote

This is the appetizer I served for the mid-afternoon party of my office friends. I was really pressured but I’m so glad they liked what I served them! *whew* Due to time constraints, I was not able to take pictures and instead, requested friends to let me grab theirs.  I was in a rush the whole day, trying to get things done without skipping work. TAKE NOTE: I didn’t skip work and yet I served my dishes right on time baby! Anyhow, here goes…
