Blueberry Cheesecake Shots & Banana Cream Pie

For this month’s Foodbuzz 24×24 (see my Meal. Teal. It’s a Deal! post), I had Filipino-inspired dishes from the appetizers all the way down to the main dish. For desserts though, it was tough for me to come up with something Filipino because what came to mind were desserts made of rice/rice flour. I happened to have some shotglasses and thought it would be pretty to put blueberry cheesecake in them. Not totally Filipino-inspired but something that we Filipinos do love 🙂

    Tiramisu

Oh my goodness! Here’s another dessert that I’m dying to tell you about! I am NOT a huge fan of Tiramisu because I get a little bothered by that tinge of “bitter” in it. However, lucky me I found a recipe online that takes out that “bitter” and I was so pumped to try it. Then I remember this Tiramisu from Cibo where the pastry resembles Otap (or maybe it really was Otap!). Otap by the way is an oval-shaped puff pastry using a combination of flour, shortening, coconut, and sugar. And so, I made Tiramisu when I visited my parents this weekend and used Otap instead of the usual…

    Strawberry Banana Trifle

I really think that serving desserts in glassware is pretty and I was inspired by Chef Dennis’ pomegranate Tiramisu. Besides, I still have the leftover bananas, sour cream, lady fingers, and all-purpose cream from my Banana Cream Pie last Wednesday. So, still for my sister’s birthday, I thought it would be practical to come up with a dessert that uses a majority of the same ingredients. Also, it’s fun creating something on my own. Hence, my personal version of the STRAWBERRY BANANA TRIFLE.

    Jan’s Banana Cream Pie

Banana Cream Pie I love to watch David Tutera‘s show on Travel and Living but I have this bad habit of not jotting down important stuff I get from watchin’ TV. As always, I saw this pretty set-up for a banana cream pie and forgot to write down the website where I can download the recipe from! And again, I was stuck with the common recipes that called for a pastry crust. I don’t want a pastry crust though. I want the exact banana cream pie from David Tutera‘s show! 😛 *brat mode on*
