Spiced Hot Chocolate

This one is very easy to make although I don’t think it’s proper for summer. But heck, I made one just this morning to help relieve my massive headache.

The ingredients are not hard to find. I used Skim Milk, unsweetened cocoa which you can replace with two chips of dark or semi-dark chocolate.

Pour skim milk into a mug just to check how much liquid do you want to drink. Pour the milk into the pot. Remember to keep stirring it and not to allow it to boil. Therefore, keep the fire low.  When the milk is hot, add in a tablespoon of unsweetened cocoa powder or two chips of dark chocolate. If you decide to use the non-powder chocolate, make sure to tear it up further into smaller pieces so the chocolate would melt and blend with the milk faster.

The harder part is the continuous stirring until all the powder gets dissolved and the choco-milk mixture is smooth and has no more lumps :) Add in sugar if you want it sweet. I prefer mine a little bitter. Next, add in a dash of cinnamon powder. Ideally, I’d use a cinnamon stick but since I can’t find one at the local grocery store and this is the only thing that I have in our kitchen, I used cinnamon powder. You can replace cinnamon with star anise.

And voila! A cup of spiced hot chocolate which is perfect to sip on while I do my MacBook-ing stuff :)
