Hoisin Chicken and Red Pepper Linguine
Let’s do away with the intro and cut the chase 😛
Here’s another easy-peasy pasta dish that’s perfect when you don’t have the luxury of time to prepare dinner. It’s simple, easy, and delicous!
Cook 500g linguine in boiling salted water until tender but still firm. Linguine package usually has instructions on boiling. When done, drain and cool the cooked pasta.
Marinate 1 kilo of sliced chicken breast fillets in 1 cup hoisin sauce for at least 15 minutes. Heat 1/4 cup of olive oil in a skillet and saute the chicken fillets until tender. Add 1/4 kilo strips of red bell pepper and stir-fry for a few minutes.
Add the cooked pasta and season with salt and pepper. You can add more hoisin sauce as you prefer.
Btw, if you don’t have hoisin sauce, here’s a simple recipe to substitute it.
Ingredients:
- 4 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons black bean paste or peanut butter
- 1 tablespoon honey or molasses
- 2 teaspoons white wine vinegar
- 1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
- 2 teaspoons sesame oil
- 20 drops hot sauce
- 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
Just mix everything together and you have a great sauce for this dish or for your char sui bun! 🙂
